Why God Uses Farming Analogies to Explain the Spiritual Truths?
God is emphasizing on farming and uses as analogy many major things, activities and experiences in agricultural production. In using these analogies, God is clearly obvious He was easing-out human efforts, first His servants, in their struggle (Luke 13:24) to grasp the otherwise impossible to fathom spiritual truths as they are brought to their salvation. Interestingly, it is noteworthy to observe that people not among His servant crews got astounded, instead, for a purpose.
The Bible talks about farm workers (Matt 20:1-6), tenants (Luke 20:9-16), seeds (Matt 13:3-43, Mark 4:27, Luke 8:5), planting, watering and growth (1Cor 3:6), harvesting (Matt 9:37, Luke 10:2), firstfruits (James 1:18, ASV) and great harvest (Matt 9:37), etc. God uses this as His reference points in all His dealings with His people.
God uses as analogy the things, activities and experiences in crop production and harvesting to demonstrate how humans engage in their journey to salvation. The joy of a farmer gathering his great harvest from the fields after he gathered the firstfruits earlier is a great event, fun and festal. Farming is a humbling endeavor. Farmers beg the sky, the ground and the horizon, hopeful for nature’s blessings. For this reason, in the Kingdom of God every individual shall engage in agricultural endeavors as their base livelihood without exception.
In the Kingdom of God, people are fruitful as they live in congruence with God. Rain and shine shall come in season (Lev 26:4-5, Matt 5:45).
Farming is not supposed to be anathema nor punitive as thought of by many who try to avoid this undertaking as much as possible. And there’s nothing frustrating with this ground-based undertaking. In fact, God preferred farming over all occupations. It was because of human deviations from the “right ways” of God that farming endeavor became practically accursed.
Farming was the first task for the first humans to live by, but because they departed from God to live by their own as they so decided by defying Him (Gen 3:6-13), the “ground became accursed”(Gen 3:17-23).
But that is not the case in the original design. The Good News is (Luke 4:43) Christ is coming to restore everything in their original state before He renews all things to start all over again (Matt 19:28).
Biblical Farming
In the meantime, farming, as the Bible uses them to express broad coverages of related verses, is not only about crop-farming but also includes aqua-farming and livestock-farming. Verses such as Matt 13:47 and Isa 1:3 are truly helpful for basic comprehension.

The MAN of Isaiah 53
“ . . . . hath no form nor comeliness; and when we see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him. He was despised, and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and as one from whom men hide their face he was despised; and we esteemed him not. Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows; yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed” (Isaiah 53:2-5, ASV). Emphasis supplied.
