The Great Truths Compacted in “go to all nations” Never Known Before

Preaching generally, broad and wide, is what Matt 28:18-20 tells the disciples to apply as the first approach to deal with the unwary people. It is paralleled with Matt 13:47 about spreading the fish net on the waters unknowing about what comes out when pulled back.

These Word and Phrase are Key to Understanding

The word “instruct” used by Worsley’s New Testament (1770) translation in verse 19 is the most proper word. Although the choice of most translations for “make disciples” in the same verse also affords us with correct understanding on what really was Christ commanding His disciples to do.

The Making of Disciples

“Jesus came and told his disciples, ‘I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations,b baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age’” (Matthew 28:18-20, NLT).

Instructing the Nations

“And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, ‘All power is given unto me both in heaven and on earth. Go ye therefore and instruct all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the holy Ghost, and teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the world.’ Amen” (Matt 28:18-20, Worsley’s New Testament, 1770, [WNT]).  Read Word Reference for "Instruct."

  The MAN of Isaiah 53

“ . . . . hath no form nor comeliness; and when we see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him.  He was despised, and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and as one from whom men hide their face he was despised; and we esteemed him not. Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows; yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed” (Isaiah 53:2-5, ASV). Emphasis supplied.
